June 2016 Newsletter
It is hard to believe that June is upon us. Many folks have registered for next years' curling season and because of their Early Bird Registration their name will be put into the draw to win back their membership at the AGM on Tuesday, June 21st at 7:00 pm.
We also have had several rentals last month that help to pay the bills during the off season. We hosted two yard sales, the first was the Lindsay Cadets Yard Sale, then it was followed by the Humane Society Yard Sale. Both organizations seem pleased with the proceeds from their sales and will most likely have them again next year. This month we have a few rentals booked already and we continue to seek new opportunities to bring new people into our facility.
On Saturday, May 28th the Little Caesar Dance took place at the Lindsay Fair Grounds. The dance was a tremendous success!!! There were 785 paid admissions to the dance and even though it was the hottest day of the year, so far, the dance floor was packed and the place was just "a rockin". The hot temperatures also helped the patrons to frequent the bar which also did very well. All in all, the club should see just over $13,000 in profit.
We need to thank all of the volunteers who helped out at the door, those who were selling bar tickets, bartenders, the volunteers at the water and pop station, the folks who helped to set up and clean up after the dance. Also, those who helped to load all the chairs, who assisted in returning the unopened bar products, who helped to take down the drapery and the streetscape the next day. It took many hands to make this function work and we thank you all.
We should also recognize the businesses in and around Lindsay who assisted in selling tickets for us. They were Sweet Bottoms Coffee in Fenelon Falls, Kawartha Coffee Co. in Bobcaygeon, Wilson and Lee Music Store in Oshawa, Van Halteren's Music Centre in Lindsay and last, but certainly not least, Wally's Haircutting also in Lindsay.
I would also like to thank and recognize the committee members who met several times and worked extremely hard to put this altogether. They were Pat O'Reilly, Mary Ellen Gerster, Cheryl Saunders, Mike O'Reilly, Gail Pillsworth, and Bob Widdis. Thank you again for all your help!!!
Annual General Meeting:
Don't forget about our AGM on Tuesday, June 21st at 7:00 pm. We will be reviewing the Annual Report of the Board of Directors, Financial Statements and Activities that occurred over the past curling season. Directors will also be elected to serve on the Board for the upcoming year. We will be discussing other business that is important to you as a member of our club. Please plan to attend this very important meeting. If you are unable to attend, see attached June 2015 Minutes (click the link for the minutes) and a Proxy, (click the link for the form) that you can fill out and drop off at the club.
Off Season Painting:
As mentioned in a previous newsletter we will be hosting several OCA events next year. We have several rentals and open bonspiels in which there will be many visitors coming to our facility. As a result, at our last Board meeting, it was decided that we would spend some time this summer freshening up the club with a new coat of paint. We felt that if we did sections of the club each year it would not be such a huge task if we decided to do it all at once. The plan is to do the front foyer, the lower lounge and upper lounge this summer. Jeff Wiltshire is heading up this endeavour and he may be asking for some help to complete the project.

Just a reminder that the summer hours for the Club are from 10:00 am to noon on Tuesday and Thursday. All calls and emails will be dealt with during these times. Have a wonderful relaxing summer!!
