Hit, Tap, Draw Challenge

Lindsay youth curler, Miranda Teel is successful at the Provincial Hit Tap Draw Competition in Huntsville, February 3rd.

Miranda Teel and fellow youth curler Owen Porteous were chosen — from over 40 clubs who participated in a HTD challenge — to be part of the top ten curlers in their 9/10 age group to attend the Provincials.

The competition was organized by the Ontario Curling Association. The three age groups were 6/8, 9/10 and 11/13.

Miranda won the Provincials in her age group, with Owen coming 6th. Each curler had two practise shots, then two rocks to count in each category. There were no sweepers, so the shots had to be the right weight and ever so accurate.

For points and score, each curler needed to draw into the house, tap a rock that was sitting on the centre line in front of the 12 foot into the house and then hit a rock that was sitting just behind the button, with the points for where the shooter rolls to after contact with the stone.
